When we are on a journey, the most important moments are when we come to some crossroads. These are the places where the most consequential decisions about our future have to be taken; the times when it becomes more crucial to know where we want to go and where we are actually going.

Samedi après l'Épiphanie - 10 janvier 2026

1 Jean 5, 14-21 ; Jean 3, 22-30

It is often said that in order to be a good hermit someone needs first to be a good community person. John the Baptist, a solitary man, living in the desert, gives us a good example of the attitude required to live a real community life.

Après l'Épiphanie - Vendredi - 9 janvier 2026

1 Jean 5,5-13 ; Luc 5, 12-16

After Epiphany – Thursday. January 8, 2026

1 John 4,19-5,4; Luke 4,14-22a

H O M I L Y

After Matthew on Monday, Marc on Tuesday and Wednesday; today it is Luke that tells us something about the early ministry of Jesus.

In his chapter 3, Luke had described the baptism of Jesus and how, when Jesus went into the water, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him in the form of a Dove, and the voice of the Father was heard: "You are my most beloved Son". Then, at the beginning of chapter 4, he says that Jesus, full of the Spirit crossed the Jordan and that He was led by the Spirit to the Desert, where he spent 40 days and forty nights. After which, "with the power of the Spirit in him" he returned to Galilee and began preaching in the Synagogue. Then, one day he went to his native town, Nazareth on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. And he read the text: “The Spirit of the Lord has anointed me...”

After Epiphany – Friday – January 9, 2026

1 John 5,5-13; Luke 5, 12-16

"Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him and said: ...Be cured! And the leprosy left him at once". This is one of the first acts of healing done by Jesus. We call those healings: "miracles". The Bible rather called them "wonders".
